Jason Robertson speaks out following controversial Team USA decision

Earlier this week, USA Hockey unveiled the roster set to represent the United States at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy, and the announcement quickly sparked controversy.

The biggest talking point was the omission of Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson, a decision that left many questioning the reasoning behind the selection process.

Robertson’s absence was particularly surprising given his outstanding form this season. The Stars winger has recorded 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points in just 41 games, making him the highest-scoring American-born player in the NHL so far this year. Those numbers only intensified the reaction to his exclusion.

Speaking with reporters on Saturday, Robertson addressed the snub and admitted he was disappointed by the decision.

He explained that he felt this season was different from last year, when he believed he hadn’t done enough to merit selection. This time, however, he felt his performance warranted serious consideration.

While acknowledging the choice ultimately rests with those in charge, Robertson said the decision was a blow to his pride but insisted it would not affect how he approaches his game.

Although he did not directly criticize Team USA general manager Bill Guerin, who is overseeing roster construction, Robertson made it clear he believes his play this season should have earned him a place on the Olympic squad.
