Main reason explained why Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Dillon Mitchell was arrested
Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver Dillon Mitchell has been arrested and named as a suspect in a recent alleged high-speed police chase in Arkansas.
According to court documents obtained by NEA Report, Mitchell was taken into custody on Monday, November 17. Police allege he fled from officers and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. A bench warrant shows he is facing several charges, including: fleeing, reckless driving, aggravated assault, an improper turn, driving left of centre, careless and prohibited driving, interfering with an officer, following too closely, exceeding 100 MPH, driving with a cancelled or suspended licence, and improper passing.

The Blue Bombers responded to the report in a short statement sent to 3DownNation, saying:
“This morning, we learned of an incident involving Dillon Mitchell that took place last week. The club is gathering more information and will not comment further at this time.”
Mitchell, who is six-foot-one and 185 pounds, joined Winnipeg in January on a deal worth around $150,000. He finished the 2024 season with 19 receptions for 193 yards and one touchdown across nine games. He was a healthy scratch for the team’s other nine regular-season games and did not play in the East Semi-Final.
His contract expires this offseason, meaning he is set to become a free agent for 2026.
Mitchell, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, first broke out in the CFL with the Edmonton Elks in 2022, posting 637 yards and four touchdowns in his debut nine games. He spent two additional seasons with the Elks, collecting 95 catches for 1,259 yards and eight touchdowns over 36 games.
The 28-year-old was also a seventh-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft, though he never appeared in a regular-season game for the team.
It’s important to note that the allegations have not yet been tested in court, and Mitchell—like anyone accused of a crime—is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
