Radko Gudas slammed with serious accusations after shocking Crosby hit.
The collision that sidelined Canadian captain Sidney Crosby for the rest of the Olympic tournament has sparked a fresh controversy. Video from Wednesday’s quarterfinal shows Czech defenseman Radko Gudas of the Anaheim Ducks allegedly using a homophobic slur at the same time he delivered the hit that took Crosby off the ice.

Initially, attention focused on Crosby’s injury, but the spotlight has shifted to Gudas’ conduct. Mic’d up during the game, he can be heard shouting: “Get off your fcking knees, you fcking c**ksucker!” while disputing a two-minute roughing penalty against Brandon Hagel.
The slur seemed directed at Sweden’s referee Mikael Holm, though it’s unclear if someone else nearby was the target. Gudas later acknowledged using the slur during the Czech Republic’s match against Canada and apologized in an interview with The Athletic: “I’m a very passionate guy…
I didn’t realize at that moment the full meaning of the word and I’m really sorry they had to be part of it. Learn from our mistakes.”
The incident adds a new dimension to an already tense Olympic moment. Crosby’s injury has dominated coverage, but Gudas’ alleged language has sparked broader discussions about player behavior, accountability, and respect in the sport.
