Rasmus Dahlin’s wife posts heartfelt message on social media
Rasmus Dahlin has plenty to celebrate after earning the first Norris Trophy nomination of his career, but the recognition carries even more emotional weight given everything he and his fiancée Carolina Matovac have endured over the past year.
The Buffalo Sabres captain was named a finalist for the NHL’s top defenseman award alongside Cale Makar and Zach Werenski after helping lead Buffalo back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time during his tenure with the club.

For Dahlin, the achievement comes after an incredibly difficult period away from hockey. Last summer, Carolina reportedly suffered severe heart failure while the couple were vacationing in France. She underwent extensive medical treatment, including a heart transplant, after spending weeks on life support.
The situation became even more heartbreaking when the couple lost their unborn child during the ordeal.
After months of recovery, Carolina has now returned to health and recently shared an emotional message on social media praising Dahlin for his strength and perseverance through such a painful chapter in their lives.
Her heartfelt post congratulated the Sabres star on becoming one of the NHL’s elite defensemen while overcoming immense personal adversity, with many fans reacting emotionally to the touching tribute.
