The Saskatchewan Roughriders have moved quickly to keep key pieces in place for the future, announcing the re-signings of National defensive back Gideon Agyei, American defensive end Chico Bennett Jr., and National wide receiver D’Sean Mimbs.

Agyei (6’2, 189 lbs) returns to Saskatchewan after being chosen in the sixth round (52nd overall) of the 2025 CFL Draft.

He originally joined the Roughriders for training camp before heading back to the University of Calgary for his final collegiate season. Over five years with the Dinos, Agyei appeared in 29 games, registering 70 total tackles, two interceptions—one of which he returned for a touchdown—and 17 pass breakups. He turned heads at the 2025 CFL Invitational Combine, running a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash (fourth fastest overall and second among DBs). He also led all defensive backs with 16 bench press reps and posted a 4.27-second shuttle, tying for second among his position group.

Bennett Jr. (6’4, 256 lbs) is also returning after suiting up for Saskatchewan in Weeks 20 and 21 of the 2025 season, recording two defensive tackles. Before arriving in Regina, Bennett Jr. attended rookie mini-camp with the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the NCAA, he spent three seasons at the University of Virginia (2022–24) where he compiled 107 tackles—including 21 tackles for loss—eight sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception across 33 games.

His 2022 campaign, featuring seven sacks and two forced fumbles, earned him All-ACC Honourable Mention. Prior to joining the Cavaliers, he played two seasons at Georgia Tech (2019–20), making 31 tackles and one sack in 15 games.

Mimbs (6’1, 180 lbs), selected by the Roughriders in the sixth round (50th overall) of the 2024 CFL Draft, also stays with the team after appearing in four regular-season games in 2025, recording one reception for five yards.

A standout at the University of Regina, Mimbs played 32 games for the Rams from 2020 to 2024, totalling 130 catches for 1,717 yards and 10 touchdowns. He led the Rams in receptions and receiving yards in both 2023 and 2024, helping guide the team to the Mitchell Bowl.

Earlier in his collegiate career, he earned a spot in the 2023 East-West Bowl. In 2021, Mimbs made an immediate impact as a freshman, leading Regina in receiving yards (288) and touchdowns (5), setting a program record for most TD catches by a first-year player, and being named the University of Regina’s Male Rookie of the Year.
