Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager Jeremy O’Day breaks silence on controversial Jordan Hus trade

It’s draft season, and discussions around positional value are everywhere — but over a decade ago, the Saskatchewan Roughriders chose to ignore that logic with a bold move.

Back in 2015, then-GM Brendan Taman traded receiver Corey Watson for long snapper Jorgen Hus — a deal that raised eyebrows at the time. Reflecting on it now, current GM Jeremy O’Day says the organization has no regrets.

Hus went on to become a model of consistency, playing 177 games and delivering nearly 2,000 snaps without notable errors. His reliability made him a cornerstone of the team, eventually becoming the longest-serving member of their 2025 Grey Cup-winning squad.

Despite early criticism, the move is now seen as a masterstroke, with Hus leaving behind a legacy of excellence both on and off the field.
