Toronto Maple Leafs icons including Mats Sundin linked with front-office job after interview process
Mats Sundin is among the former stars being considered for a front-office role at the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to insider reports, although the Hall of Famer is not being lined up for the general manager position.
TSN insider Darren Dreger revealed that the club has already held discussions with Sundin regarding a potential executive role, as the organisation explores bringing in experienced former players to strengthen its leadership structure.

Further developments suggest that Gary Roberts is also on the radar for a possible position within the club. Roberts, who is highly respected across the NHL, has built a strong reputation through his work in player development, sports science, and performance training with elite athletes.
The approach appears to be driven by leadership figures including Keith Pelley, who are keen on incorporating individuals with deep playing experience and strong ties to the game. Bringing in well-known former players like Sundin and Roberts could add valuable insight, credibility, and a fresh perspective to the club’s management setup.
With the Maple Leafs continuing to evaluate their options, conversations with respected figures from the game are expected to remain part of their strategy moving forward.
