Winter Olympics controversy: Canada under fire for alleged cheating during Olympics
Canada faces backlash after cheating accusations at the Winter Olympics
The Winter Olympic Games took a contentious turn this week during a match between Canada and Sweden, as tensions flared on the ice. While these two nations are traditionally fierce rivals in hockey, this time the controversy erupted in curling, during a clash between Team Brad Jacobs of Canada and Team Niklas Edin of Sweden.

The situation escalated when Sweden’s Oskar Eriksson accused Canada’s Marc Kennedy of illegally touching the curling stones during the match. Eriksson insisted that the incident was captured on video and repeatedly referenced the footage during Swedish broadcasts.
Kennedy responded calmly, emphasizing his respect for Eriksson. “I have a ton of respect for Oskar Eriksson. He’s one of the best players to ever play,” Kennedy told the National Post. “I would never accuse him of cheating. I’ve been on tour for 25 years. A hog line official was present for six ends and never raised any issue, yet this is still being discussed in the ninth end.”
Despite the dispute, Canada emerged victorious, defeating Sweden 8‑6.
