Jorgen Hus has officially brought an end to his professional football career, retiring as the longest-serving member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders following a decade of service that included a Grey Cup triumph.

The veteran long snapper capped his career in style by helping the Roughriders secure the 112th Grey Cup, marking his 177th appearance for the team across regular season, playoff, and championship games. Over the years, Hus played a key role during successful campaigns, including first-place finishes in the West Division, while also achieving an impressive streak of 150 consecutive appearances, underlining his durability and consistency.

Beyond his on-field contributions, Hus was widely respected for his impact off the field. In 2024, he was honoured with the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, recognising his strength of character, perseverance, leadership, and commitment to the community. As a player ambassador, he was heavily involved in outreach programs, promoting literacy and mental health initiatives across Saskatchewan.

A native of Saskatoon, Hus built his football journey through local programs before progressing to higher levels. He featured in high school football with the St. Joseph Guardians, and later played for both the Saskatoon Hilltops and the University of Regina Rams. His professional career began after being selected in the 2013 CFL Draft, and he also had brief stints in the NFL with teams including the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Roughriders secured his CFL rights in 2015, and he quickly became a mainstay within the organisation. From his debut that same year, Hus was involved in several historic moments for the club, including playing a part in the first points scored at the new Mosaic Stadium.

After a long and decorated career, Hus steps away from the game having left a lasting legacy both on and off the field. He now looks ahead to life beyond football with his family, continuing to call Saskatoon home.
