Winnipeg Blue Bombers release veteran QB Terry Wilson after suspended list spell

Winnipeg Blue Bombers have officially released veteran quarterback Terry Wilson from their suspended list, allowing the 28-year-old to sign with another team.

Wilson recently stepped away from the Blue Bombers, which led to his placement on the suspended list. His release now clears the way for him to explore fresh opportunities elsewhere.

The quarterback joined Winnipeg as a free agent in 2024 and served mainly in a backup role, appearing in 36 regular-season games. During that stretch, he completed 12 of 22 passes for 83 yards and one interception.

Head coach Mike O’Shea recently opened up on Wilson’s decision to leave the organisation, revealing the pair held a conversation before the move was finalised.

According to O’Shea, Wilson simply felt it was the right moment to move on from the team.

Before turning professional, Wilson spent time at the University of Oregon, University of Kentucky, University of New Mexico and Garden City Community College.

Across 31 starts in college football, he threw for 4,501 yards, 27 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, while also making an impact on the ground with over 1,000 rushing yards and 11 scores.

After going undrafted in 2022, the Oklahoma City native attended rookie minicamp with the Dallas Cowboys and later spent time with the Houston Gamblers, featuring in six games during the 2022 season.
