Canadian ice hockey coach Kevin Lowe disputes Chris Pronger’s account of departure from Edmonton Oilers
Chris Pronger has been promoting his new autobiography Earned: The True Cost of Greatness from One of Hockey’s Fiercest Competitors, sharing details about his career and time with the Edmonton Oilers.
In a recent interview with The Athletic, Pronger recounted the circumstances surrounding his contract negotiations with former Oilers GM Kevin Lowe, describing the process as taking place after heavy drinking.

The discussion has also revived long-standing speculation about off-ice rumours from his time in Edmonton, though neither Pronger nor Lowe has confirmed any allegations. Lowe has suggested Pronger’s account may be an attempt to deflect from questions about his personal life during that period.
Pronger signed with Edmonton at age 30 in the prime of his career, but later expressed regret over the decision.
