Downtown Montreal descends into disorder as police use tear gas on Canadiens fans after Buffalo Sabres triumph
Montreal Canadiens secured their place in the Eastern Conference Final after a dramatic Game 7 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo on Tuesday night, sparking huge celebrations across Montreal.
However, while thousands of supporters flooded the streets to celebrate the memorable win, the night reportedly took a chaotic turn in parts of downtown Montreal.

As excitement spread throughout the city following the Canadiens’ playoff triumph, reports later emerged that riot police had been deployed after some celebrations allegedly became disorderly.
What began as jubilant scenes among fans reportedly escalated as authorities moved in to respond to growing disturbances, bringing a tense end to an otherwise historic night for Canadiens supporters in La Belle Province.
