ESPN snubs the Red Wings despite their position at the top of the standings
The Detroit Red Wings might be sitting atop the Atlantic Division, but ESPN’s outlook on their season tells a different story.
While the team’s first quarter of the campaign wasn’t flawless, it was strong enough to place them firmly in the early playoff conversation.

They’ve showcased their potential by stringing together impressive winning runs and maintaining points streaks, signaling that a promising team is taking shape. Yet, despite these accomplishments, ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski has given them only a 34.9 percent chance of making the postseason, underscoring a lack of confidence in the Red Wings’ ability to sustain their early success.
