High school hockey game turns deadly as one killed and four wounded in shooting
Multiple sources report that an active shooter has killed one person and injured four others during a high school boys’ hockey game at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. According to reports, gunfire came from the stands behind the Blackstone Valley School players, prompting police and EMTs to rush to the scene.

ABC News notes that a young girl is among the deceased, while the four injured have been transported to hospital. The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Providence Police confirmed on social media that they are “monitoring the situation in Pawtucket” and that officers remain at the arena providing assistance. They said further information will be released as it becomes available.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the shooter or the victims. ABC News reports that the alleged shooter took their own life at the scene.
Blackstone Valley High School issued a statement:
“We are aware of a serious reported incident at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, where our Boys Hockey team was playing. Information is still developing, and we are actively working with event staff and local authorities to understand the situation.
We have been informed that multiple students are secured in multiple locations. At this time, we are still working to confirm the status and location of all individuals. Our priority is the safety of our students and staff, and we are moving as quickly as possible to gather accurate information.”
Authorities and school officials continue to investigate the incident. More details will be released as they become available.
