Montreal Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes reveals what he told Nikita Kucherov in Game 7
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes has not only impressed on the ice during his rookie playoff run, but he’s also been turning heads with his confident and entertaining interviews.
Fresh off helping his team eliminate the Tampa Bay Lightning in a dramatic Game 7, Dobes spoke with the TNT panel and shed light on a heated moment involving Nikita Kucherov.

The incident occurred late in the second period, when Kucherov skated over in what appeared to be an attempt to get under the young goaltender’s skin. When asked about the exchange, Dobes revealed that the Lightning star had been bothering him throughout the game.
According to Dobes, the two exchanged words, but he didn’t pay much attention to what Kucherov said, as he was focused on responding with confidence of his own. He explained that he fired back by suggesting the Lightning were feeling the pressure, before both players moved on heading into the final period.
Despite acknowledging Kucherov’s elite status, Dobes made it clear he wasn’t intimidated. He emphasized that while the Lightning boast top-level talent, the Canadiens believe strongly in their own group and aren’t short on confidence.
For a rookie in such a high-pressure environment, Dobes’ composure—and willingness to stand his ground—has only added to what has already been an impressive playoff breakthrough.
