Done deal: Alex Hale completes move to Saskatchewan Roughriders

Saskatchewan Roughriders have added Australian kicker Alex Hale to their training camp roster as part of their Global player group.

Hale, a native of Gosford, Australia, spent six seasons at Oklahoma State University between 2018 and 2023, overcoming a torn ACL suffered in 2020. Across 29 collegiate games, he converted 43 of 54 field goal attempts (79.6 percent), with a career-long of 53 yards, while also making 63 extra points.

He handled kickoff duties as well, averaging 61.5 yards, and earned second-team All-Big 12 honours in his senior year.

After going undrafted in both the 2024 NFL Draft and CFL Global Draft, Hale signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent through the International Player Pathway program. He spent the 2024 season on the practice roster but was released in July 2025 following a serious eye injury that sidelined him for several weeks.

The 6-foot-1, 203-pound kicker will now look to secure a roster spot in Saskatchewan, where he is expected to compete with Michael Hughes and Jonathan Kim for the team’s vacant placekicker role.
