Hamilton Tiger-Cats unveil expanded fan zone at Tim Hortons Field

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are set to transform the north end of Tim Hortons Field with a major expansion of their in-stadium fan zone.

The space, previously known as the North End Patio, will be rebranded as The Porter Hangar. The two-level structure is designed to create a lively, intimate atmosphere while providing weather-protected reserved seating and a dedicated entry point. “At Hamilton Sports Group, we’re constantly evolving the live event experience for our fans and partners — from how people move through the stadium to how they gather, interact, and enjoy the game,” said HSG president and CEO Matt Afinec.

He added, “The Porter Hangar is a bold next step in that ongoing commitment. Porter has been an outstanding partner, and together we’re building something that enhances how fans experience football, while staying true to what makes Hamilton Stadium such a special place to watch live sports.”

The club describes The Porter Hangar as offering an “elevated economy environment that blends comfort, convenience, access, and social connection in a weather-protected end-zone setting.” The new fan zone is scheduled to open in time for the team’s first preseason game on May 23, 2026.

Looking ahead, the Tiger-Cats plan to expand The Porter Hangar in 2027 to include a member-only field-level viewing area, likely enabled by the CFL’s announced field-shortening changes taking effect after the 2027 season.

On the field, Hamilton had a strong 2025 campaign, finishing first in the East Division with an 11-7 record before falling to the Montreal Alouettes in the East Final. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell led the league with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions across all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and topped the league with a +10 turnover differential. Running back Greg Bell led the rushing attack with 1,038 yards, while receiver Kenny Lawler posted 1,443 receiving yards. Linebacker Stavros Katsantonis led the team in tackles with 69.

Off the field, Hamilton continued to grow its fanbase, ranking fourth in CFL attendance with an average crowd of 22,858, up 3.9% from the previous year.
