Team Canada reveals Poulin injury status following tough defeat against USA

Team USA put on a commanding performance against Team Canada, cruising to a one-sided 5–0 win in preliminary women’s hockey action. Canada played without captain Marie-Philip Poulin, who was sidelined after being injured in the previous game against Czechia, but her absence didn’t appear to change the outcome.

The Americans controlled the game so thoroughly that it’s hard to imagine the result being different even if Poulin had suited up.

The good news for Canada is that their captain is expected to return later in the tournament. However, she’s not likely to feature in Thursday’s final preliminary matchup against Finland.

From the opening period, the U.S. set the tone and dictated play, jumping out to an early lead and never letting up.

Already ahead 2–0 to start the second, the Americans added a controversial goal that felt like the decisive blow. After that, Canada’s push seemed to fade as the game slipped further out of reach.

Despite the heavy defeat, Canada remains one of the main gold medal contenders alongside the United States. The key question now is how they respond and regroup after such a convincing loss.
