NHL rumors: three ideal trade destinations for Rasmus Ristolainen

If the Philadelphia Flyers decide to move Rasmus Ristolainen before the 2026 NHL trade deadline, a few teams stand out as logical destinations.

The veteran right-shot defenseman has frequently surfaced in trade speculation, and if he can remain healthy down the stretch, interest around the league could grow. With that in mind, here are three potential landing spots if Philadelphia opts to shop him.

1. Detroit Red Wings

Detroit is in a position to strengthen its roster. Armed with significant cap space and currently holding a playoff spot, the Red Wings could justify adding an experienced blueliner for the stretch run.

A right-shot defender with size is something Detroit could certainly use. Ristolainen would bring physicality and veteran presence to their back end. In terms of fit, he could slot in comfortably on the third pairing alongside Albert Johansson, giving the Wings more depth and balance on defense as they push toward the postseason.

Dallas Stars

One of Dallas’ main priorities ahead of the deadline should be strengthening the right side of its defense. That area of the roster could use a clear upgrade, so it would make sense if Rasmus Ristolainen is on their shortlist.
